Alpha Golf Tournament Sponsorship
Alpha was a primary sponsor at a local golf fundraising event, which provides scholarships for future college students. The event sponsors funding scholarships for students in the East Metro area. Last year, three $1,500 first place scholarships, three $1,000 runner-up scholarships and $50 gift certificates were awarded to students at Centennial, Barlow, and Sandy High Schools.

Alpha performed soil removal, risk assessment, and groundwater study for a leaking underground heating oil tank. Levels of contamination were considered free product, and approximately 80 tons of free product level soil was removed in order to achieve site closure. Alpha worked under the supervision of another environmental consulting firm who was hired by the owner’s insurance agency to oversee our work. Alpha was able to complete site closure, from start to finish, in less than two weeks while keeping the environmental consulting firm, the home owner, neighbor which had a portion of contamination on her property, and insurance company informed and involved in the decision-making process.

Based on the contaminant levels, soil removal was required before the site could be closed with a risk-based study including vapor intrusion analysis with a soil-gas sample. In spite of the removal of almost 25 tons of contamination and a sewer line running over the top of the excavation, Alpha was able to restore the site to conditions which became almost undetectable by the time the house sold less than 3 months later.

Alpha decommissioned an underground heating oil tank by removal which was located in the City Right of Way. Based on the depth of the tank being less than 5 feet below surface grade, the City of Portland required that the tank be removed. A series of three gas lines ran above the tank, but Alpha was able to safely decommission the tank by removal without any impact to the lines. All work was completed according to City and Fire Marshal requirements with a City approved Traffic Control Plan which required the on-site presence of a flagging company.
